Where Are You Going?

I talked with some parents recently about how to empower their family to live a good story. I’ve never met a family, or a leader, that wants to “Just Get By.” Most people want words like adventurous, daring, empathic, risk takers, world changers and other adjectives to describe their world.

As a leader, or maybe as a family, if you want to focus on where you are going in this season may I propose four questions to think on.

  • Who Is Involved? This may sound simple but being very clear who is involved is incredibly important.

  • What is the Problem We Want to Avoid? This helps you articulate what you are trying to say away from. This allows you to see the pitfalls and roadblocks you do not want to sidetrack you.

  • What Would a Win [Success] Look Like? This helps you now know what you are aiming for. To avoid the significant problem and now to know what your ultimate aiming point is allows you to use your energies well.

  • What Habits Need to Be Developed? This is the keystone to all of this conversation. What habits need to be developed for you to have a win, address the problem for everyone involved.
